Thank you to Amarone Golf Connections, and Halpern Enterprises, we are pleased to announce another Exclusively @ The Hamilton Club Event - Winemaker & Owner, Paolo De Marchi, of Isole E Olena on Friday, September 17th, 2010.
Paolo, widely known as one of Italy’s finest winemakers, comes from a family with three generations of winemaking experience in the northern section of Piedmont. In 1976 he began managing the estate, with the goal of combining his technical training with the desire to firmly establish the winery as one of the forerunners in Chianti. He is among the most respected winemakers in the world. His early enthusiasm for "extra-Tuscan" grapes in Chianti has been tempered by his respect for the unique characteristics of Tuscany's indigenous Sangiovese. This is a demanding grape, difficult to ripen, and requiring extraordinary work in the vineyards, to insure high quality. Paolo still produces small amounts of wines from "international varieties," including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Chardonnay, but his Chianti Classico and Cepparello (100% Sangiovese), are his own, best contribution to Tuscan culture.
