Maculan - Fratta

This is a fantastic example of a Northern Italian blend. I highly recommend this wine. However do not open the 2004 till at least 2010. 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Merlot.

Dal forno Romano- Valpolicella Superiore

A Valpolicella for over $100, yikes but that is correct. This wine blows all other Valpolicellas and Ripassos out of the water. It tastes like a great Amarone and it has a beautifully long finish. Why - because the Dal Fornos cut this wine with Amarone w ...

Degani - La Rosta

The two Degani brothers make their regular Amarone which you can buy through the LCBO or their "Riserva" being the La Rosta. Although the La Rosta is a few dollars more it is well worth it. This Amarone ages beautifully and presently we are drinking the 2 ...

Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico superiore

500 cases of this made, 1999 still isn’t ready, bit of a bite to it, 15.5% alcohol – unbelievable – in a class by itself – lean tasting – this wine should be a little fuller than it was, perhaps in one or two years – 8/10.

Year1999

Giuseppe Quintarelli Veneto Primofiore

Entry level for Quintarelli - $55/bottle – comes out once/year by LCBO, approximately $100 – this wine is a great wine to drink w/pizza. I thought it had a lot of berries in it. Wine Spectator did not like it – 7/10.

Year2004

Speri Amarone Della Valpolicella

Whether 1999, 2000, or 2001, this is a MUST for your cellar, always smooth, not overly raisiny - $80/bottle – well worth it – 9/10 AGENT.

Year2000

Amarone Del Valpolicella

La Rosta brothers run this small winery north-west of Veneto, Italy - make basic Amarone – La Rosta single vineyard Amarone – they dry the grapes above their house in a racking system – not like a Speri – raisiny flavour - it will be excellent. $ ...

Year2001

Ambrosian Nicolis Amarone della Valpolicella

Two brothers and a sister. A bit bigger in taste than La Rosta – presently drinking the late 91s – LCBO, 8/10.

Year2001

Annata Recioto Del Forno Romano

14% alcohol – dessert wine - $200/half bottle – if you ever have the opportunity to buy this wine, buy it and keep to drink on special occasions – 11/10.
